How could Iraola's appointment impact Liverpool's transfer plans?
Your Site News' Vinny O'Connor at Liverpool's training ground:
"The appointment of a new head coach is going to be supplemented by activity in the transfer market.
"They want pace in the wide areas. That was something Liverpool were always looking to recruit and Iraola fits the bill with his style of management.
"It is very similar to what Jurgen Klopp delivered and more intense than what Arne Slot delivered.
"The fact they registered interest in [Yan] Diomande shows that this evolution isn't just down to a managerial appointment.
"Arguably they need another number six to take some of the workload off of Ryan Gravenberch. Play two sixes at times, that's certainly the way Iraola likes to play.
"You could argue they need to bring in more experience at centre-half to supplement the fact that [Jeremy] Jacquet will be 21 when the Premier League kicks off. [Giovanni] Leoni is also here.
"Whether they need to perhaps bring in another centre forward to back up the fact that [Hugo] Ekitike is still going to be out for a while. We know the injury problems Alexander Isak have had too. We expect Liverpool to move and we anticipate they have the cash to do so."
Liverpool appoint Iraola
Liverpool have appointed Andoni Iraola as their new head coach.
Iraola has signed a two-year deal at Anfield and will succeed Arne Slot, who was sacked just a year after winning the Premier League.
The process was being led by sporting director Richard Hughes, who appointed Iraola at Bournemouth in 2023 before he moved to Anfield the following year.
"I'm really excited, really excited, Iraola told the club's website.
Because obviously you know about Liverpool, you know that its a big club, a massive club, one of the biggest in the world.
But feeling inside and understanding a little bit more of this club, I always thought its a special club.
You dont need a lot of things to get attracted by Liverpool. Liverpool is Liverpool.
But obviously the atmosphere, the supporters, the club, the players, the chance for me to coach top-level players, the chance to fight for titles. I think it cannot be more attractive than this. Its difficult to find it. So, really excited to start.

El Mala's Brentford move stalling as family push for sibling move too
Latest from Sky Sport News' Lyall Thomas:
Said El Mala's proposed move to Brentford is not progressing in part due to his familys request that the Premier League club also sign his brother.
Malek El Mala also plays for FC Koln in Germany as a striker, but Brentfords interest is in the 19-year-old winger Said, who has had an excellent season in the Bundesliga.
As a result, nothing has been formally agreed between the clubs nor with the player, contrary to reports in Germany, although a fee for Said is not expected to be an issue, given a figure of around 39m (45m) has been discussed at length.
Although El Mala is believed to be open to signing for Brentford, there is also believed to be uncertainty about whether 21-year-old Malek would qualify for a work permit.
Brighton have also shown interest in El Mala and there are believed to be other clubs too, but the complications around the family, who represent both players, mean both currently look unlikely to move to the Premier League.
